  • ADGM has emerged as a hub for tokenisation infrastructure, with a framework that accommodates hybrid traditional-digital business models under a single permission.

Laser Digital, Nomura’s digital asset subsidiary, has obtained a Financial Services Permission from the Abu Dhabi Global Market’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority. The licence allows the firm to provide services across both traditional and digital assets within the ADGM jurisdiction.

The approval positions Laser Digital to operate in one of the Middle East’s leading international financial centres with a dual-asset mandate. ADGM has emerged as a hub for tokenisation infrastructure, attracting entities seeking a regulated environment that bridges conventional finance and digital instruments. Laser Digital’s entry expands the geographic footprint of a major Japanese bank’s tokenisation play beyond its home market and established Asian presence.

The approval also reflects the increasing willingness of tier-one institutions to anchor regulated digital asset activity in Middle Eastern jurisdictions. ADGM’s framework accommodates hybrid business models, and Nomura’s move suggests confidence in the venue’s supervisory clarity and market access potential.
