What it is
Mirae Asset Securities is the securities arm of the Mirae Asset Financial Group, South Korea’s largest brokerage by assets. Its digital-asset positioning spans both the STO side (the tokenised-securities mainnet, the digital bond issuance) and the exchange side, having agreed to acquire crypto exchange Korbit for roughly USD 92 million, giving the group a foothold across both regulated tokenised securities and crypto-asset trading infrastructure.
Relevance to tokenisation
Mirae Asset is the clearest South Korean example of a securities firm building tokenisation infrastructure ahead of the statutory framework taking effect, rather than waiting for the January 2027 commencement date to start. The DTCC working group membership and the cross-border digital bond both signal an international rather than purely domestic ambition for the firm’s tokenised-securities capability. See South Korea for the jurisdiction-level statutory context.
