Digital Asset (Holdings)
Institution · Custodian / tech
Digital Asset is the technology company behind the Canton Network and the original sponsor of DAML, and by mid-2026 it had become the most heavily bank-funded infrastructure company in tokenisation, with Goldman Sachs, DTCC, Tradeweb, Citadel Securities, DRW, BNY, Nasdaq, Hanwha, Shinhan Financial Group, and SC Ventures by Standard Chartered among its recorded investors across 3 raises totalling USD 540 million between June 2025 and June 2026. The company sits at the centre of the tokenised-collateral thread of institutional adoption: Broadridge's DLR repo volumes, the DTCC tokenisation service, the Nomura, Mizuho and JSCC tokenised JGB (Japanese government bond) trial, and the Kinexys JPMD deposit-token plan all run on, or are committed to, Canton. The full settlement thesis and roster are covered in Canton's institutional settlement thesis.
Funding history
- June 2026. USD 355 million round led by a16z crypto, oversubscribed. Hanwha invested KRW 30 billion (reported as USD 20 million and USD 20.2 million by separate Ledger Insights accounts); Shinhan Financial Group and SC Ventures, Standard Chartered's ventures arm, were added on 21 July 2026 with no incremental amount disclosed (Digital Asset). Ledger Insights counts Standard Chartered as the fifth systemically important bank to fund the company in 18 months, naming BNY, BNP Paribas, Goldman Sachs, and HSBC as the others; primary sources evidence BNP Paribas and HSBC as Canton Foundation members from 9 September 2025 rather than as Digital Asset investors, and a direct investment by either remains unevidenced (Canton Foundation).
- December 2025. An additional USD 50 million from backers including BNY and Nasdaq.
- June 2025. USD 135 million Series E with DRW, Tradeweb, DTCC, Citadel Securities, and Goldman Sachs participating; YZi Labs joined on 3 July 2025 (Digital Asset).
