NYSE Tokenised Venue Adds Computershare, Equiniti, Broadridge and Superstate

Key points

  • NYSE has signed agreements with Computershare, Equiniti, Broadridge, and Superstate to support its tokenised securities trading platform, bringing the total participant count to six.
  • Computershare and Equiniti are the world's two largest transfer agents; together with Broadridge, the three incumbents serve close to 5,000 publicly listed companies and nearly all S&P 500 constituents.
  • The platform remains subject to regulatory approval, so no live trading has commenced.
  • ICE, NYSE's parent, invested in tZERO in August and named it as an expected second digital transfer agent alongside Securitize.
  • Equiniti's participation opens an interoperability path with Bullish, which has acquired Equiniti, extending the venue's connectivity into crypto-exchange infrastructure.

The New York Stock Exchange has signed agreements with four additional firms to support its forthcoming tokenised securities trading platform. Computershare and Equiniti, the world’s two largest transfer agents, join alongside financial infrastructure provider Broadridge and crypto-native Superstate. They follow digital specialists Securitize and tZERO, bringing the total roster to six participants. The platform itself remains subject to regulatory approval.

The addition of Computershare and Equiniti carries significant operational weight. Together, the three incumbent firms serve close to 5,000 publicly listed companies and cover nearly all of the S&P 500, meaning that most large-cap issuers already have an existing provider capable of minting issuer-sponsored tokens for the venue. That coverage substantially reduces the friction of onboarding for large issuers considering participation.

Two broader questions now sharpen. When NYSE parent ICE invested in tZERO in August and designated it as an expected second digital transfer agent alongside Securitize, the open question was whether the NYSE’s rulebook would solidify into a de facto standard for tokenised equities. The acceptance of NYSE’s format rules by firms holding most issuer mandates suggests that hardening is under way. Equiniti’s involvement also establishes an interoperability pathway with Bullish, which has acquired Equiniti, adding a crypto-exchange dimension to the network’s reach.
