Marketnode Plans to Tokenise BNY Investments Funds on Stellar Network

Key points

  • Marketnode is planning to tokenise BNY Investments funds on the Stellar network for institutional and accredited investors.
  • Marketnode's Fundnode settlement platform processed nearly 1.5 million transactions in the year following its 2024 launch.
  • The firm was founded in 2022 by Temasek and SGX, with HSBC and Euroclear subsequently joining as investors.
  • Marketnode already serves as authorised distributor for WisdomTree digital funds and as tokeniser and distributor for certain CGS International funds across multiple blockchains.
  • The DTCC has signalled that Stellar will become its third supported blockchain for tokenised stocks next year, reinforcing the network's institutional standing.

Marketnode, the Singapore financial market infrastructure co-founded by Temasek and the Singapore Exchange (SGX) in 2022, is planning to tokenise funds managed by BNY Investments on the Stellar blockchain, targeting institutional and accredited investors. The move extends Marketnode’s role as both tokeniser and distributor, a model it has already deployed for WisdomTree and for certain CGS International funds, the latter a subsidiary of China Galaxy Securities.

The Fundnode settlement platform, which Marketnode launched in 2024, processed close to 1.5 million transactions last year, providing an operational base for bringing additional fund products onchain. HSBC and Euroclear have joined Temasek and SGX as investors in Marketnode, and the firm recently assisted HSBC in launching its first onchain structured product.

Stellar’s traction with regulated institutions appears tied to the blockchain’s native token controls, which allow authorised parties to reverse erroneous or fraudulent transactions, a feature that matters when compliance teams assess operational risk. Franklin Templeton‘s BENJI money market fund launched on Stellar, and the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has indicated Stellar will become the third blockchain it supports for tokenised equities next year. For Marketnode, adding BNY Investments product to its roster reinforces a multi-asset, multi-chain distribution strategy rather than a single-issuer or single-chain play.
