Crédit Agricole Assurances Puts €100m Into Amundi Tokenised Money Market Fund

Key points

  • Crédit Agricole Assurances invested €100 million in tokenised shares of the Amundi Funds Cash EUR money market fund.
  • CACEIS, wholly owned by Crédit Agricole, serves as the fund's tokenisation and transfer agent, keeping the entire transaction within the Crédit Agricole group.
  • Crédit Agricole holds 68.3% of listed asset manager Amundi and 100% of CACEIS, meaning capital, management, and infrastructure are all intra-group.
  • Amundi, Europe's largest asset manager with €2.4 trillion under management, launched the tokenised share class of Cash EUR only in November 2025.
  • The transaction suggests institutional insurers are now willing to place general account capital into tokenised fund vehicles at scale, even when operational infrastructure remains largely proprietary.

Crédit Agricole Assurances has deployed €100 million into a tokenised share class of the Amundi Funds Cash EUR money market fund, marking one of the larger single institutional commitments to a tokenised fund vehicle in Europe to date. CACEIS, the securities services arm that is wholly owned by Crédit Agricole, acts as the fund’s tokenisation and transfer agent, meaning the transaction is conducted entirely within the group’s own infrastructure.

The intra-group nature of the deal is worth noting: Crédit Agricole owns 68.3% of Amundi and 100% of CACEIS, so the capital, the asset management mandate, and the tokenisation plumbing all sit under one parent. That concentration limits the transaction’s value as a proof of third-party demand, though it does demonstrate that a large European insurer is comfortable allocating general account capital to a tokenised instrument and that the operational rails are sufficiently mature to handle a nine-figure ticket.

Amundi only launched the tokenised share class of Cash EUR in November of last year, making its subsequent growth rate the more consequential data point for the broader market. As Europe’s largest asset manager with €2.4 trillion under management, Amundi’s acceleration in tokenised fund issuance signals that the firm is treating this as a structural product line rather than a pilot. For other asset managers and institutional allocators watching the money market segment, the cadence of Amundi’s build-out, and the scale of anchor commitments it is attracting, will be the metric to track.
